Fly Rod and Reel has always struck me as the "literary" general interest fly fishing magazine. The writing tends to be of a higher quality than other magazines and the regular features by John Gierach are often worth the price of admission themselves. While many of the national fly fishing magazines tend to be rather predictable, FR&R will often shake things up.
